Holiday scene with Sugar Paper gift boxes and ornaments

Think color-coordinated, gorgeously wrapped holiday gifts are just a Pinterest-inspired dream? Think again! With the new Sugar Paper for Target holiday collection, it’s stunningly simple to create a magazine-worthy look right at home.

Back at Target for their third year, Sugar Paper co-founders Chelsea Shukov and Jamie Grobecker are taking this season’s assortment to a whole new level. Not only did they introduce two new, chic colors (grey and navy!) into their signature gift wrap collection, but they’ve added everything you need to deck out your tree to match the presents underneath! From a sweet star tree topper to glittery ornaments, every little detail will help you achieve holiday décor perfection.

Ready to dive into holiday prep? We spoke to Chelsea and Jamie about everything from unique ways to customize gifts to fun decorating tips, below!

What inspired the expanded focus on tree trimming this year for the Sugar Paper holiday collection?
CS: The tree is the centerpiece of holiday decorating. We wanted to give Target’s guests an opportunity to decorate from head to toe, or in this case from the top of the tree to the gifts underneath it! Both Jamie and I always choose a color story for both our gifts and our tree, and running around town to find all the corresponding pieces can be a pain. We wanted to make it easy for guests to put together a cohesive look with one-stop shopping.

Blue, pink and white gift wrap options

What were some of the major design themes you incorporated into this collection?
JG: It was important to us to stay classic with this collection but also to bring in something new and versatile. When designing the collection, we found ourselves loving the idea of people being able to choose a color story that could inspire all their holiday decorating, not just the tree. We all agreed on the classic red, white, gold and of course our signature pale pink, and then we decided to add grey and navy for options that were traditional but not predictable.

What are some tips for how guests can use items from Sugar Paper’s holiday line to make their holiday wrapping and decorating a little bit sweeter?
CS: We designed this collection so that everything could be interchangeable, creating an opportunity for endless mixing and matching. The curated selection of chic gift wrap and accessories lets the guest thoughtfully personalize each package, and the trimming accessories are enough to make any tree or mantle Pinterest-worthy. A few of our favorite tricks are:

  • Tie a jingle bell or tag on a bottle of wine with ribbon for a quick and easy hostess gift.
  • Pop a gift card into a small ornament box to make the presentation a bit more fun and elevated.
  • Fill a votive with the tree lights (which come with a battery pack option!) to use as a centerpiece, to decorate your shelves, or to have on the mantle as an added bit of light.

What are some of your favorite items from the Sugar Paper for Target holiday collection?
CS: The gold tree topper is definitely a favorite and an instant classic. It was designed for our kids, who always look forward to adding a star on top of the tree, and with no backing it looks great from any angle and is made to be intentionally small. We also love the mini ornaments because they can be used in so many ways. They of course look great on a tree, but we also put them in jars as décor and on top of packages as gift toppers. We know that ornaments are not just decorations, they’re keepsakes. So for something extra special we’ve included logo charms with the year on them so you can add an element of history as you decorate each year.

The Sugar Paper for Target holiday collection will be available in stores and online at Target.com starting Oct. 29, with prices ranging from $2 to $15.
