We put Target’s latest and greatest exclusive baby décor brand, Cloud Island, to the test by helping “Jane the Virgin” star Justin Baldoni and his expecting wife Emily Baldoni create a dreamy new nursery for their second child. If you’ve seen the couple’s tear-jerking viral pregnancy announcement, you know they’ve been excitedly awaiting their new baby boy. And after months of preparing, there was only one thing left to do… design the perfect nursery!
“Target has literally everything parents need to find safe, high-quality products that reflect their own personal style and are easy to incorporate into their homes, all at a great value,” Justin said. “The Cloud Island products made it extremely easy to play around with patterns and create a cohesive look and feel by mixing and matching the items we loved throughout our space.”
We know, it’s too cute! We caught up with Justin and Emily about their nursery inspiration, their favorite Cloud Island products and their number one piece of parenting advice. Read on!
“We love light and simple designs similar to Scandinavian design—Emily is from Sweden—so a nursery that feels airy and bright was very important to us. Also, being parents of a wild toddler with another one on the way, we are very aware of the unavoidable mess that will continue to happen in every room of the house, and having too many colors and patterns in the nursery would only add to the mess,” Justin explained.
“Target’s nursery bedding and décor assortment of greys and oatmeals helped us achieve this calm, breezy feel we were looking for,” he added.
“We love the blankets and the animal plushes! Maiya is constantly cuddling with them! They are so soft and add the perfect touch to the nursery,” Justin said. “We are also big fans of the baby layette and their cool, simple patterns (like the black and white theme), and can’t wait to see them on our little baby boy.”
Emily added: “Justin also loves using the baby booties as finger puppets. Clearly!”
As for their most sound parenting advice, “Everyone thinks they are an expert in parenting but the truth is we are all just trying to figure it out and do the best we can,” Justin said. “People will bombard you with advice. Take it all with a grain of salt and listen to your own gut feelings and intuition—you will always know what is best for your growing family!”
