We chatted with Brit + Co founder Brit Morin about what guests can expect from their cool new kits.
What inspired you to create this line of activity kits?
At Brit + Co, our mission is to inspire and empower women to be creative. While we are best known for our digital content, we believe creating offline experiences are also a key part of connecting with our audience and fulfilling this mission. Partnering with Target has allowed us to reach an even wider group of women and makes creativity easy for anyone who wants to roll up their sleeves.
Can you tell us more about the kits?
Since all of our content is focused around igniting creativity, we know a lot about which DIY trends people are currently loving. One big trend right now with young women is the ability to personalize fashion and home decor products, specifically with custom colors, designs, or phrases. Our Brit + Co kits let you do just that! Burn your name in wood with our Wood Burned Cutting Board Kit, weave a unique colorful bracelet with our Embroidered Leather Cuff Kit, or create your own custom greeting cards with our Calligraphy Kit. The list goes on!
What do you hope Target guests get out of these kits?
Brit + Co’s new line of DIY kits are a way to make crafting more accessible, modern and fashionable. Each kit has everything you need inside and most take less than an hour to complete—they are made for beginners, so don’t be scared to give it a try! The outcome will be a trendy new accessory piece, no matter how you style it.
Do you have a favorite kit from the line?
I love them all! But if I had to pick, I would go with the Metal Stamp a Necklace Kit. The gold bar necklace has been a trend for a while now in the fashion world. In our kit, the Target guest gets two blank necklaces and a full box of metal stamps—make one for you and one for a friend. You can hammer in your name, your hometown, a favorite phrase… the options are endless! I’m planning on making necklaces with my kids’ names on them.
Brit + Co activity kits will be available beginning March 12 in nearly all Target stores and on Target.com with prices ranging from $19.99 to $24.99.
