Last week, we treated St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital™ patients and families to holiday activities, snacks and a spectacular show as Target hosted its annual winter Bullseye’s Bash just for them. This festive event is just one way Target’s celebrating the 20th anniversary of our partnership with St. Jude. Take a peek inside the party:

Our partnership began in 1996 with the commitment to build the long-term housing facility, Target House, a free home-away-from-home in Memphis, Tenn., for patients and their families. Check out this video message from our friend, Marlo Thomas, national outreach director of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and daughter of founder Danny Thomas.

As the celebration continues, take a look at some of the things we’ve accomplished together through the years:

TARGET + St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
a lot can happen in 20 YEARS
When St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital® opened in 1962, the overall childhood cancer survival rate was just 20%. Today, treatments invented at St. Jude have helped push that number past 80%. Target’s been proud to support that great work since we teamed up in 1996.
Through our partnership:
$millions in grants and products from Target and vendor partners donated
Annual fundraising events sponsored, like the Fall Festival of Hope, Red Carpet for Hope and St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer
100+ Target House events and other fun-filled carnivals, parties and more hosted for St. Jude patients and families
Target’s support helps St. Jude with things like:
Building St. Jude’s network of support, from chaplains and social workers to child life specialists
Supporting the St. Jude school (2010-2015) ensuring patients can continue their education and celebrate milestones like kindergarten graduation
Fueling ground-breaking research that gives the world new insight into the most aggressive childhood cancers
Ensuring families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food
In 1999, we built Target House — a home-away-from-home in Memphis, TN, for families to stay while their kids receive lifesaving treatment at the hospital.
It has 2 buildings, with 98 apartments for families to live
268 elephants found throughout the house—they symbolize hope and family love
Target House families have come from 45 states and 47 countries
4,500+ families have stayed there, free of charge
Families live at Target House during long-term stays, anywhere from 90 days to 3 years
Target and our partners have raised over $60 million in support over the years
Our team members love giving to St. Jude too. Here are a few ways they get involved:
Walks & fundraisers: Volunteers across the country log hundreds of hours each year
Caring Quilts: The Target Quilting Network at our headquarters sends handmade quilts as part of every Target House family’s welcome package
Heartwork: Each year, our Creative team partners with artists on a series of art prints, sold to raise funds for art room supplies
Cheers to 20 years of partnership! Target is proud to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and its mission: Finding cures. Saving children.®
During this week’s Bullseye’s Bash event, Target CEO Brian Cornell, Chief Corporate Social Responsibility Officer Laysha Ward, and other Target leaders and volunteers joined the families for the big show and took part in all the fun. Check out more photos of the action:
