Social Media Stars Txunamy and Headed Somewhere Are Slaying Fall Layering With Cat & Jack

When Cat & Jack—Target’s newest and largest-ever line of clothes for kids and babies—launched earlier this year, there were so many (nearly 2,000!) adorable styles to choose from, that families were facing a fun Cat & Jack conundrum: The kids wanted to wear it all!

Then along came the cooling temps and changing leaves, which offered up a fantastic fall solution for parents and kids alike: layering. California-based style blogger Mary Lauren of Headed Somewhere and her son Ezra, and the adorable Instagram fashionista Txunamy have been slaying fall layering by combining cute jackets, jumpers and joggers from Cat & Jack’s autumn line. See some of their looks and steal their style with simple trend tips, below:

“Fall and winter clothing can start to look bulky and boxy, especially on little ones,” advised Mary Lauren. “I try to keep a balance between the top and bottom. If Ezra is wearing a large coat and sweater, I keep the leg tapered with a skinny jean or jogger. When he is wearing a simple long-sleeve without too much layering on top, I don't mind a straight-leg pant. It's all about proportions!”

“Layering is the best way to style Ezra's fall outfits,” said Mary Lauren. “In the afternoons, when we are out and about, he has on a single layer Cat & Jack shirt or light sweater with pants. But I always have a coat on hand because the temps really drop at night. The most important thing is to keep the kids comfortable. Shopping the Cat & Jack line, I don't think you'll have much trouble finding lots of pieces you and your kids will both love!”

“I love being able to dress my outfits up or down, whether it’s to wear to school or for special family gatherings,” said Txunamy. "I can pair a denim overall dress and a light under-layer with a cute sneaker for school and add booties for a more polished look for my family’s upcoming holiday gatherings.”

“The weather in Los Angeles is really sunny most of the time, but once in a while we have chillier mornings and afternoons,” said Txunamy. "For those times, I love layering my look with either a faux fur vest or denim jacket to stay warm but still look cute and stylish!”

Cat & Jack is available in stores and on Prices range from $4.50 to $39.99, with most items under $19.99.
