TV Actress Aimee Carrero Talks Pre-Wedding Prep

“I’m getting married twice this year…to the same guy!” jokes Aimee Carrero, a Dominican and Puerto Rican TV actress best known for her role on Freeform’s American sitcom Young & Hungry and as the voice of the first-ever Latina Disney princess, Elena of Avalor. Last December, the 27-year-old announced her engagement to fiancé and fellow actor Tim Rock. “We are having a large ceremony this summer in Aspen, Colo. and a small church wedding later this year in my hometown of Miami.

In the midst of making her wedding arrangements, Aimee has been able to stay cool, calm and collected by focusing on what’s most important to her: “planning a day that will honor and highlight the most important people in our lives.”

In preparation for the big day—or should we say, days!—Aimee walked us through the ins and outs of her pre-wedding prep, covering everything from beauty to bridesmaids. Read on:

“During my time in Los Angeles, I’ve learned a few tips, but the most important of all involve cleansing and moisturizing. After long days of filming for Young & Hungry, the only thing I want to do is hit the sack, but I have to remember to remove all my makeup! I keep my cleansing cloths by my nightstand for a quick and easy routine. The weather is drier than in my hometown so moisturizing is essential.”

“First of all, let’s talk workout gear: I LOVE patterns! A great patterned sports bra and a matching pair of capris will inspire any girl to get moving. As far as exercises go, I love a good arm and abs workout! My hand weights and yoga mat help me get in some quick exercises before chowing down on a light snack—pizza!”

Rehearsal Dinner Style:

“Because our wedding is a black-tie event, I want to wear something really fun and flirty to our rehearsal dinner (Not that tuxes aren’t fun or that I’ll be doing any real flirting). Maybe an off-the-shoulder dress with some lacey wedges, or a tank dress with fringe heels. Either way, I’ll be wearin’ a heel and a nice statement piece!”

“Contrary to popular belief, I think bridesmaids should feel comfortable to express their personal style…in matching peach taffeta—just kidding! I gifted each of my bridesmaids personalized jewelry. I also love the defy & INSPIRE nail polish shades with witty names like Say Yes and At First Sight!”
