When Target Home Style Expert Emily Henderson agreed to give Jen and Jason Campbell, husband-and-wife co-creators of the popular wedding and lifestyle blog Green Wedding Shoes, a playroom and nursery makeover, Emily understood that it wouldn’t be Jen and Jason who she’d have to impress…it would be their spunky, adorable, opinionated little three-year-old, Sienna.
Sprucing up Sienna’s playroom was the first item on Emily’s agenda, and doing so required none other than Target’s very own kids’ home collection: Pillowfort! Watch the video below to see the redesign in action…and Sienna’s hilarious reaction to the reveal.

Once the playroom looked pretty and polished, it was time to tackle the nursery. Both the Pillowfort and Oh Joy! for Target collections caught Emily’s eye and helped her turn a naked nursery into a dreamy den for mom and baby. Take a look at the pictures below to see how it turned out:

What was your favorite part about making over the playroom?
It was so fun to bring to life not only Jen and Jason’s vision of the space, but also Sienna’s vision. I love working with kids, because I get to see their personality and style shine through in the pieces they choose. Sienna knew what she wanted: an area for crafting, cuddling and reading, and lots of pink throughout. Target’s Pillowfort collection offers a lot of great options that made it easy for Sienna and her parents to pick kids’ décor pieces we could incorporate into a functional, yet wildly fun and imaginative space.
What was your favorite part about making over the nursery?
You have so much freedom to play! There are just a few elements that make up a great room, so in a lot of ways it’s also easy to design. The nursery is where a mom spends a lot of her time the first year, so it’s important to create a space that is comfortable, stylish and fun. We picked the bunny wallpaper first and then selected items to go with the soft pink and white theme, such as the Babyletto Bento Glider and select pieces from the Oh Joy! for Target collection, like the Party Mouse Figurine and Heart Ottoman.
Sienna is such a little cutie! Have you ever worked with younger clients before?
I’ve worked on lots of kids’ spaces, but not all children are as opinionated as Sienna! She had a strong sense of style and a fun personality, and was an excellent client. Some of her favorite Pillowfort pieces were the Teepee and Panda Throw Pillow.
What made Pillowfort the perfect line to feature in these makeovers?
What I love about the Pillowfort collection is that the pieces are super stylish and work well on their own, but also mix easily with your existing furniture, so adults love them too. They’re also so versatile and affordably priced—your child can enjoy and change them up for years to come!
