Fitness fiends across the country have been gearing up to take a complimentary spin with Target ever since we announced our new partnership with SoulCycle—a 10-city tour featuring classes taught by certified instructors from the popular group cycling brand. And cardio-committed guests who aren’t able to make a stop on the tour have been busy at home keeping up with our C9 Commit to Fit 21-Day Challenge

To celebrate the launch, we hosted an epic cardio party last night in New York City, where three of SoulCycle’s top instructors led a ride for 150 guests, including red carpet regulars Hilary Duff and Lea Michele. Riders tapped it back amid SoulCycle’s signature candlelight while DJ Irie spun tunes to keep the group pumping. The best part? Singer Rachel Platten took the group over the finish line with a surprise live performance of her award-winning “Fight Song.”

After the event, we caught up with SoulCycle co-founders Elizabeth Cutler and Julie Rice to chat more about Target’s most soulful partnership yet!

What made Target the perfect brand for SoulCycle to partner with?

Partnering with Target is a natural fit for SoulCycle. SoulCycle was created to bring excitement to movement and is a great match for Target’s emphasis on encouraging guests to celebrate wellness and fitness. This partnership is the perfect way to kick off the New Year and bring SOUL to riders across the country.

What did it take to go from opening the first SoulCycle studio in 2006 to partnering with Target in 2016?

We created a workout that doesn't feel like work, because we were users looking for an experience that did not exist. We have been hyper-focused on scaling experience, people and culture. With every new studio opening, we are overwhelmed by the response to SoulCycle and are committed to bringing Soul to the people while maintaining our unique and special rider community.

Why should Target guests try a SoulCycle class?

Exercise should be fun and something you look forward to. That is why we created SoulCycle. As people think about their goals for 2016, we believe living a healthy, active lifestyle is probably towards the top of their list. People should try one of our complimentary classes when we’re in their hometown, because SoulCycle is a joyful exercise experience that you will actually want to do!

What do you hope guests take away from this unique riding experience?

We hope people across the country leave our classes feeling energized and excited to start their wellness and fitness journeys in 2016. Whether it’s making better choices when it comes to food, being more active or continuing healthy habits, we are optimistic that riders who attend one of our classes will feel inspired by this experience to find their best selves.

How did the NYC launch event capture the spirit of the SoulCycle x Target partnership?

The launch event was engaging and high energy—everything guests can expect from our 10-city tour throughout January and February. Similar to our launch event, riders across the country can expect a 45-minute, fun-filled cardio party that will leave them feeling emotionally and physically restored. We hope that every class throughout this tour proves that wellness and fitness can be joyful and fun, regardless of where you are in your journey.

Over the coming weeks, Target and SoulCycle’s 10-city tour will take place in the following cities:

  • Jan. 22–24: Washington D.C., Houston, Seattle
  • Jan. 29–31: Atlanta, Nashville, Denver
  • Feb. 5–7: Miami and Chicago
