Step inside Target Wonderland—the 16,000-square-foot part-store, part-holiday playground opening tomorrow in New York City—and prepare to feel like a kid again.
Located in Manhattan's Meatpacking neighborhood, Target Wonderland is a free family-friendly experience. The space features ten larger-than-life spectacles, including a jumbo Etch-a-Sketch, a Christmas tree made from 320 green foam Hulk Hands, the S.S. Free Shipping LEGO pirate ship seen in Target’s holiday commercials and so. much. more.
In addition to the ten spectacles, Target Wonderland will merge the physical and digital retail experience to reimagine holiday shopping for guests. As guests step into the space, they receive a custom lanyard and digital Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) key—the same technology we use in our stores! If any of the products featured throughout the journey catch their eye, they can simply use the keys to scan a mini bullseye tag and add the items to a custom digital shopping list. At the end of the adventure, guests can check out and purchase anything they added to their list.
To bring the Wonderland experience home to you, we enlisted the help of kid Youtube stars Evan and Jillian of EvanTubeHD. They interviewed our Chief Marketing Officer Jeff Jones, actor and voice of Target’s digital storybook, “The Holiday Odyssey,” Neil Patrick Harris, Target partner and lifestyle expert Camila Alves and actress and singer Kristen Bell at the Target Wonderland grand opening event to learn about their experience. Check it out!
Bonus! Check out a behind-the-scenes video of the making of Target Wonderland.
