Don’t you just love it when you get the local hookup to one of the year’s hottest events? During the opening night of the Austin City Limits (ACL) Music Festival, we partnered up with Camille Styles, party stylist and founder of the popular eponymous lifestyle blog and hosted a soiree to kick off the festival in style. Below, Camille talks first-hand about her weekend highlights and her partnership with Target!
I’ve been going to the ACL Music Festival for eight years now, but each time feels as fresh as the first. I never know what music, food and fashion I’m going to discover. And better yet, this year I partnered up with Target and was invited to attend their ACL kickoff party, where they were honoring famed photographer and film director Danny Clinch. To celebrate Danny’s career several bands performed live, including Houndmouth, Midland, Shakey Graves and DJ Mel. Midland was a personal favorite: an Austin-based band that I’d never heard perform live before, and it was amazing to get such an up close and personal view of their country-rock set. Danny talked about his work over the years, which also was on display throughout the space – some seriously incredible images of rock royalty like Bob Dylan, Tupac Shakur, Bruce Springsteen and Eddie Vedder. So inspiring! The cherry on top of the evening were two surprise performances. The first was from Gary Clark Jr. and then the Foo Fighters joined The Strokes for an impromptu jam session – both featured Danny on harmonica. That was the very definition of a “pinch me moment.”
Of course, music wasn’t the only thing on my mind this weekend. I went around the festival keeping my eye out for the coolest street styles. The people watching at ACL lets me feel out what’s going to be the “it” festival item—last year’s flower crown was the go-to accessory—and see a sneak peek into what fall fashion trends festival-goers are already flaunting.
We’re only a few days into the festival, but I’m already dazzled by all the cute ankle boot styles, tons of printed high-waisted pants, naturally pretty makeup looks and the fresh takes on plaid for fall. With just one weekend left, I’ll be narrowing down my favorite fashion finds so I can serve up tips for how you can recreate all of the ACL festival looks at Target!
So stay tuned for more, and in the meantime, take a look at a few exclusive photos from the Target party, below:
