What if Target and the 2015 CMA and ACM Entertainer of the Year wrote and sang a song especially for you? Thanks to the #LukeBox project, that’s exactly what happened yesterday to fans of country crooner Luke Bryan, whose Target-exclusive album “Kill the Lights” debuts today.
Here’s how it worked: Fans submitted requests on Twitter using the hashtag #LukeBox, and Luke selected submissions to use as material for quick, original songs posted to YouTube.
The requests were quirky, fun and original, to say the least. Luke sang to Lionel Richie about…meeting Lionel Richie, @SavannahZ1986, thanking her for serving in the military, @KindaCraftyMom about bacon, sparkly unicorns, rainbows and car keys and even went so far as to sing to @CamilleLove91’s boyfriend, giving him the hint that it’s time to pop the question! For his grand finale, Luke devoted an acoustic performance of the single “Way Way Back” to all of his adoring fans.
We went behind the scenes with Luke to talk about #LukeBox and hear more about the Target exclusive tracks, “Corner Booth,” “Little Boys Grow Up and Dogs Get Old” and “Buddies,” off his new album.
