Two Target Stores Using Green Energy

Whenever a new Target opens, we keep the surrounding community top-of-mind. That includes designing our buildings with features inside and out that help us use energy efficiently and reduce our carbon footprint. It’s a big job—each neighborhood has different needs, so our teams of architects and engineers work closely with local partners to make sure we get it right.

One way we make sure our buildings stack up is by earning the ENERGY STAR, a certification from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that a building demonstrates superior performance in efficient energy use, comfort and air quality compared to similar buildings. With more than 1,200 buildings already certified, we’re closing in on our goal to earn ENERGY STAR status for at least 75% of our U.S. buildings by the end of this year. In June, we were honored to be one of 13 companies named as Top Certifiers.

Check out a few of our certified stores with sustainable features designed for their communities.
