September 25, 2014
September is National Preparedness Month, a time for individuals, families, organizations and communities to come together and prepare for emergencies and threats of all types. Target participates in this national celebration each year to support and promote the safety and security of communities where we do business, which helps ensure quicker recovery after disasters occur.
All year long, our teams put in countless hours working with partners to help our communities prepare for disasters and emergencies. We partner with local emergency management agencies to create positive change and address communities’ most important needs.
For the 2014 National Preparedness Month celebration, team member volunteers are joining partner organizations to support preparedness events in cities nationwide, where visitors can build preparedness kits for their families, take preparedness trainings and more. This year, Target became the first private-sector partner to be a key supporter of FEMA’s America’s PrepareAthon! Through the partnership, we’re participating in additional national preparedness events and exercises taking place in the spring and fall.
On Sept. 23, Twin Cities team members took part in the Minneapolis Emergency PrepareFair on Nicollet Mall, helping community members learn about preparedness and interacting with visitors. We’re also supporting local events in New York City and Los Angeles, featuring family-friendly games and activities centered on preparedness.
