On Aug. 5*, neighborhoods across the United States took part in National Night Out events, from block parties and barbecues to city-wide festivals with games, exhibits, safety demonstrations and more. Target proudly supported local gatherings in many of the communities where we do business as part of our commitment to promoting safe neighborhoods and building relationships with law enforcement partners and guests.
This year, thousands of Target team members celebrated National Night Out in their communities, volunteering to staff booths and activities, assisting with setup and cleanup efforts, and adding personal touches along the way to make their event like no other.
“We always aim to get something that kids of all ages can enjoy,” says Phyllis Thatcher, cosmetics brand team member at one of Target’s Roswell, Ga., stores, whose event included a rock climbing wall, face painting, bike and GiftCard raffles, and a coloring station. Like many events, Roswell’s gathering drew large crowds with rescue vehicle tours and SWAT and K-9 demonstrations from local police and fire departments. The activities are themed around safety, and meant to help families learn about and make lasting connections with their neighborhood law enforcement officials. “The parents had just as much fun as their kids, and several have already told us they can’t wait until next year’s event.”
Through their work, our team members collectively volunteered thousands of hours of service, teaming up with law enforcement officers to help bring their communties' National Night Out celebrations to life this year.
