Barbara Bermudo, Camila and Mia

Back to School: A Day in the Life of Bárbara Bermudo

It’s back-to-school season, and we can practically smell the newly sharpened pencils and hear the opening of textbooks. Parents all across the country are getting their little ones ready for another great school year — it’s a job in itself!

Univision TV anchor Bárbara Bermudo would be quick to tell anyone that she is, above all else, a mom. With her two beautiful young daughters, Mia and Camila, Bárbara has her hands full as she maintains a balance between life at work and at home.

We spent a day with Bárbara as she got her girls ready for the upcoming school year. And no matter what she’s doing, Bárbara always seems to have a huge smile on her face.

Below, she details her fun-filled back-to-school family routines.

SUNDAY (Day Before School)

12 p.m., Put together a back-to-school shopping list: My girls really look forward to our back-to-school shopping tradition. Before school begins, we pull together our shopping list to buy everything we need. Their lists are long and include backpackslunch boxes and stylish clothes!

3 p.m., Off to Target we go! Target is my best ally during back-to-school season because of the special promotions and the variety of items that cater to both moms and kids. I can find everything I’m looking for in one place, and I love how it saves me time and money.

4 p.m., Shop ’til we drop: Once we get to Target, my daughters know exactly where to find what they’re looking for. As a mom, I think it’s important to give kids some freedom to select what they want so they can go to class feeling confident and happy.

8 p.m., Story time before bed: My parents were always there for me throughout every step of my schooling, and I try to do the same for Mia and Camila. This year will be extra special because they’ll now attend the same school.

MONDAY (First Day of School)

6 a.m., Rise and shine! My day begins at six in the morning. Mia and Camila naturally wake up early too, which makes mornings so much easier. I have my coffee, read the newspaper, help the girls get ready for school and get myself ready for work. No matter how crazy my job or life can get, I always am there for my girls — especially for big moments like heading back to school.

7:30 a.m., Pack up the new supplies: I could always see the great effort my parents put into ensuring I had the best education, and I strive to do the same for Mia and Camila.

8 a.m., Time for school! As my eldest daughter, Mia always helps out Camila — she’ll show her the ropes at school this year, from how to make friends to what she’ll learn in the classroom. I’m looking forward to the memories they’ll build together this year!
