First Look: Target's Kyle Larson Debuts New NASCAR Firesuit and Paint Scheme

It’s a new season with a new driver, so the Target Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates team got a new look just in time for the Daytona 500.

Check out the three newly designed firesuits that Kyle Larson and the No. 42 Target team will wear for the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) season. For his inaugural race, the rookie racer will also sit behind the wheel of a refreshed Target Chevrolet SS, complete with two new paint schemes.

Pretty awesome, right?

Design is clearly in the driver’s seat this time around. The innovative modern makeover — an edgier take on the traditional suit of years past — will make the Target team stand out both on the track and in the garage.

For starters, each suit features a large Bullseye that wraps over the edge of the suit below the left shoulder, in a place of greater prominence than the previous center position. Bold, crisp racing stripes create an element of motion, a nod to the speed and precision that Team Target displays in each race. The No. 42 team adds black and white suits to the traditional red, and will rotate colors each race.

You never know what they’ll step out in, but you know it’s gonna be good. We can’t wait to see which suit is on display for Daytona!

“I’m really excited about the new designs to the car and firesuits,” says Kyle. “The Bullseye is already a really visible logo, and I think the new designs make it stand out even more than in the past. I think it’s cool that Target and the team are doing something a little different.”

The suits are slick, but we’re also excited about No. 42’s two-tone paint scheme of red and white, with the primary color changing based on the start time of the race. For night races, the car will shine with a white paint scheme that fades into red along the rear of the car. For day races, a red paint scheme will dominate the front of the car and fade into white along the rear.

Let’s start those engines!
