Back in October, Target launched the For You. For Them. campaign as part of Target’s commitment to increase team members’ breast cancer screening rates. Breast Cancer Awareness Month is over, but through April 1, 2014, a special partnership with United Health Foundation and Park Nicollet Foundation means that getting a screening also means giving back. For every Target team member and spouse/domestic partner on a Target-sponsored health plan who receives a mammogram by April 1, these foundations will provide breast cancer resources for an underinsured or uninsured woman in the community.
The very same Park Nicollet Jane Brattain Breast Center Mammo A-Go-Go bus that provided 161 headquarters team members with mammograms in October—plus hundreds more at 15 Target stores and distribution centers—will travel to social service agencies and homeless shelters, and partner with other community nonprofits, to provide women with no-fee mammogram screenings. “If we reach our ultimate goal, we’ll be able to help about 1,300 women and host 28 community events in the next two years,” says Park Nicollet Foundation’s Beth Warner. “It’s huge. Think of the women and families we’ll help.”
Target’s For You. For Them. campaign included many elements geared toward team members, including special shirts and merchandise, headquarters events, and this video. “Target didn’t have to add the component of charity,” Beth says. “But we are so glad you did. There are many women who don’t qualify for assistance programs for a variety of reasons—Target is actually helping the women who fall through the cracks.”
