Target taps into a major grocery trend with Simply Balanced yogurt.
Since introducing Simply Balanced to guests in 2013, Target has been looking for more ways to evolve the wellness grocery brand. A big launch for 2014 is Simply Balanced Greek yogurt.
“Given the phenomenal growth in yogurt driven by the Greek yogurt segment, it’s only natural for Target to capitalize on the opportunity to meet our guests’ wellness needs,” says Anthony Bruneau, buyer, Owned Brand Foods.
Greek yogurt is one of the fastest-growing grocery products in recent years thanks to its high protein and nutritional value. Target’s Greek yogurt is made from cow’s milk, and it takes five times more milk to create than conventional yogurt. The milk for Simply Balanced yogurt comes from more than 900 family-owned farms.
Target’s team did lots of research to pick yogurt flavors our guests will love. Simply Balanced single-cup yogurt has fruit on the bottom; guests can pick from strawberry, blueberry, peach, raspberry black cherry and pineapple flavors. Plain and vanilla flavors come in larger tubs. Target plans to roll out more Simply Balanced Greek yogurt flavors this summer.
Greek yogurt is also a great fit for the Simply Balanced brand. Simply Balanced products include wholesome ingredients. There are no products with hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils, high-fructose corn syrup, synthetic colors, artificial preservatives, artificial flavors or artificial sweeteners. And all Simply Balanced products will be free of genetically modified organisms by the end of 2014.
