There’s nothing quite like a great “before and after” story. At Target, some of our favorite makeover moments happen as part of our School Library Makeover program, through which Target remodels school libraries to ignite a love of reading and help put more children on the path to graduation. This fall, a few special guests joined us in refreshing a handful of libraries at schools across the country.
Most recently, NASCAR racing sensation and Team Target driver Kyle Larson joined Target volunteers, teachers and students to celebrate the unveiling of a brand new library at Palm Lane Elementary in Phoenix.
“It’s important for kids to have all the resources available to get the best education,” says the newest addition to Team Target. “These makeovers make that possible.”
As part of his first Target volunteer event, Kyle helped put the finishing touches on the new library and read to students in the renovated space.
“The best part was seeing the kids’ faces as they walked into their new library,” Kyle said. “They were so excited and gave everyone high-fives as they walked through the door!”

Target Mommy Ambassador Soleil Moon Frye joined Target volunteers for the library unveiling at P.S. 148 in Queens, N.Y. Soleil also read to students in their new library space just before the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Drew and Jonathan Scott from HGTV (US) television series “Property Brothers” were on hand to volunteer, read to students and help Target unveil a new library to students and teachers at P.S. 179 in Brooklyn, N.Y. It was the brothers’ first time attending a Target School Library Makeover, a project that they took special interest in because of their shared commitment to education, design and giving.
In September, Target and the Heart of America Foundation unveiled a refreshed library at C.L. Gideons Elementary. Target CEO Gregg Steinhafel attended the library unveiling and volunteered with the Target team.
