One in eight women in the U.S. will develop breast cancer in her lifetime. But breast cancer doesn’t just affect women who are diagnosed. Breast cancer touches husbands. Partners. Parents. Kids. Friends. Our Target team. And our community.
Because prevention is the best protection, Target has committed to increase our team members’ breast cancer screening rates. Throughout October, National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Target invited all team members to join together and pledge to fight breast cancer—whether it’s getting a mammogram or talking to those they love about getting a screening.
Target launched a broad campaign across the U.S., giving team members at every location a chance to get involved. We also sent a mammogram bus to select locations, providing an easy, convenient way for busy women to get their screenings. And, through a special partnership with United Health Foundation and Park Nicollet Foundation, we made sure that getting a screening could also mean giving back. For every Target team member and spouse/domestic partner on a Target health plan who receives a mammogram, United Health Foundation and Park Nicollet Foundation are providing breast cancer resources for an underinsured or uninsured woman in the community.
This video, featuring team members and family members whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer, was created to further inspire team members to get screened or talk to someone they love about getting screened. We hope these stories from our team will inspire you as well.
