Get the VMAs Beauty Look: Shailene Woodley and Naya Rivera

There were a ton of memorable moments from last night’s MTV Video Music Awards. This morning, there are enough GIFs to keep you entertained the entire day and help you relive each and every over-the-top second of the annual awards show.

Between Miley’s er… buzz worthy performance, Justin Timberlake’s hyped reunion with ‘N Sync (we squealed like 12-year-old girls when the former band mates emerged from the bottom of the stage) and Mackelmore & Ryan Lewis’ touching performance, the show was one of the most glam we’ve seen in years.

Before the event took over Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn, our favorite leading ladies hit the red carpet in seriously stylish looks. Gowns and crop top ensembles were accented with stunning hair and makeup looks, from dramatic red lips to sensual smokey eyes.

Two standout stars—Shailene Woodley and Naya Rivera—sported our favorite beauty looks of the night. The “Divergent” actress’ elongated cat eyes and sleek hair complemented her edgy look, while the “Glee” vamp’s 70s-inspired disco makeup accentuated her long, black gown.

Celebrity makeup artists Gloria Noto and Jo Baker helped create Shailene and Naya’s respective makeup looks with NP Set and Pixi products, exclusively available at Target for under $35 each. Affordable red carpet beauty buys? Now that deserves an award.

When you’re ready for your own show stopping moment, recreate Shailene and Naya’s beauty looks with Gloria and Jo’s how to tips below.

What Gloria Did:

  1. I applied Pixi Lid Last Shadow Pen in Mocha Mauve to the eyelids, rimmed eyes with Pixi Lid Last Shadow Pen in Graphite Glint and blended both shades together.
  2. Then, I used the matte taupe shade in the Pixi Shade Quartette in Shades of Taupe, blending out the edges to the brow
  3. I then used the two darker metallic shades on the eyelids for an edgy, wet look and used the light shade in the palette to add definition to the cheekbones.
  4. Using the darkest shade in the NP Set Eye Palette in Atlanta, I patted around the outer eyelid.
  5. Next, I used the Pixi Lid and Line in Smoky Black to line the inner water line and upper lash line.
  6. I used the white and peach shades in the Pixi Eye Bright Kit to highlight her cheekbones and make lips appear larger.
  7. Then, I layered NP Set Pasarella Mascara in Black on the top and bottom lashes for volume.
  8. I applied the matte gray shade in the Pixi Shade Quartette in Shades of Taupe on her temples to further contour her face and bring out her eyes.
  9. To give warmth to her face, I applied Pixi Beauty Bronzer + Kabuki Brush in Summertime along the forehead and jaw line.
  10. Around the inner rim of the eyelids, I used the Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in Oyster Glow for added sparkle.

What Jo Did:

  1. I created a show stopping molten metal reflection by layering dark shades of NP Set Day to Night Palette over her eyelid, blending the edges.
  2. I then used NP Set All That Glitters Gel Duo in Sao Paulo to add depth and shimmer to the eye.
  3. Around Naya’s lash line, I smudged Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in Black Noir and curled her lashes.
  4. Next, I applied several coats of NP Set Glamorista Mascara, to create a base for fluttery lashes.
  5. I applied NP Set It Takes Two Concealer & Foundation Pot for a flawless base to keep the look velvety smooth for hours.
  6. Then, I applied NP Set Contour & Highlight Palette to provide warm bronzy tones on her cheekbones.
  7. For shinier spots, I applied NP Set Pasarella Powder Foundation with a soft small fluffy brush to set her look.
  8. I finished off with Pixi Succulent Lip Twin in Opal Orchid to create a neutral soft pinky lip.
