Facebook has introduced a new gift card service that allows friends to send each other gift balances from multiple stores on one reusable card. Target is participating in the launch, along with Jamba Juice, Olive Garden and Sephora.
The Facebook Card is an extension of the Facebook Gifts program. To send gifts and gift cards, users can click on the “gifts” icon on their friends’ Facebook pages or alongside birthday notifications. Once purchased, Facebook notifies the recipient that a gift is on its way, and a plastic Facebook Card arrives in the mail a few days later, preloaded with dollar amounts to any of the participating stores. The reusable card can be used in most U.S. Target stores and functions like a standard gift card.
The Facebook Card program is yet another way Target is providing guests with convenient, creative shopping opportunities through the use of social channels and technology.
