The 1920s and 1930s-era buildings that comprise 1011 Nicollet Mall in downtown Minneapolis have been home to a series of eateries and retailers over the years. The last business left years ago, leaving a gap in this key downtown thoroughfare. But today, after extensive renovations, the 25,000-square-foot space now known as Target Plaza Commons serves as a bustling wellness, business and recreational space for Target headquarters team members.

Seen as an extension of Target Hall—the collaborative meeting space and hub of Target’s headquarters—Target Plaza Commons boasts a modern industrial look with furniture groupings that allow for a flexible and informal meeting space. Soaring windows open the building to the street and allow passersby to see all the activity happening inside.

In addition to current bike storage and other onsite facilities, Target Plaza Commons offers bike racks, lockers and showers, basketball and bocce courts, a life-size chessboard, a fire pit and lush green space for relaxing outdoors when the weather cooperates. Target Plaza Commons also provides a great space for group fitness classes like yoga and kickboxing, in addition to a gaming and video area.
