We only just caught our breath from the Missoni for Target collaboration whirlwind, and already Target has a new high-end friend up their designer sleeve.

Yesterday, New York-based designer Jason Wu and Target announced Jason Wu for Target, a limited-edition collection of women’s apparel and handbags debuting Feb. 5, 2012.

“My collection for Target embodies my signature aesthetic of feminine sophistication, with a mischievous nod to the 1960s,” said Jason.

Ranging in price from $20 – $60, the chic clothes, handbags and silky smooth scarves are contemporary and feminine in whimsical prints and patterns. Among his collection inspirations – a playful, little black cat adorned with a red neck scarf.

Only 123 days, 17 hours and 20 minutes till the feminine, modern collection hits most Target stores and Target.com…. but who’s counting?

Taiwan-born Wu first made headlines (literally) at age 26 when newly appointed First Lady Michelle Obama sashayed and swayed in a stark white, silk-chiffon, one-shouldered gown by the then unknown designer at the 2009 Presidential Inaugural Ball.

Catapulted into the spotlight, Jason has quickly emerged as one of the most influential designers of today, offering unique and distinctive styles in clean, classic silhouettes. He’ll bring the same relaxed elegance to Jason Wu for Target next year.

“I’ve had an incredible experience partnering with Target and I am looking forward to bringing these affordable designs to women across the country,” said Jason.

Well Jason, we’re looking forward to it too!
