Each year, millions of students drop out of high school. That is a staggering amount of youth who will miss out on higher education and a brighter future. Reading proficiently by the end of third grade is a critical milestone on the path to high school graduation. That’s why Target is dedicated to helping children in their early school years, creating lifelong learners and instilling a love for reading.

Laysha Ward, President of Community Relations, took some time to talk about the importance of early reading and highlights a few Target programs that encourage and support education.
