John Mulligan is executive vice president and chief operating officer for Target and a member of its leadership team. His responsibilities include stores, Target’s global supply chain, enterprise operations, properties and flight services.
John joined Target in 1996 as a financial analyst, and during his tenure has held key leadership positions in finance, Target.com and human resources. In 2012, John was promoted to chief financial officer. While continuing to act as chief financial officer, he served as interim president and chief executive officer from May to August 2014. In 2015, John was promoted to his current position.
In addition to his Target responsibilities, John serves on the boards of McDonald’s and Shipt.
John graduated from the University of Wisconsin and earned a Master of Business Administration from the University of Minnesota.
