TOMS for Target Holiday Collection video transcript
A man in a denim shirt sits on a couch, looking into the camera. Kneeling in the grass, Blake fits a shoe over a child's foot. The blue and white TOMS logo hangs over a background of green grass. A wooden wall displays white lettering that reads, "OUR STORY. A close-up of a globe shows Argentina.
BLAKE MYCOSKIE: Hi, my name is Blake Mycoskie. I'm the founder and chief shoe giver of TOMS. The TOMS story really started in 2006 when I went on vacation to Argentina.
Blake looks down as he interviews. Handmade signs of shoes hang on a wall. A globe spins.
BLAKE: One thing that struck me is, I saw that there were many children without shoes. I wanted to help these kids, but rather than starting a charity, I decided to start a business.
Time-lapse photography shows a cardboard box filling with shoes. Shots reveal the slogan "One for One" etched on glass, constructed in wood, and printed on a shoe box. The camera pans to blue shoeboxes with the blue and white TOMS logo.
BLAKE: And so we created TOMS based off a one-for-one model. We sell a pair of shoes, and then we give a pair of shoes.
Blake Mycoskie interviews.
BLAKE: For me, that was kind of a natural thing to do because I was an entrepreneur.
A shot reveals circular lettering on white wood that reads, "BORN IN VENICE. HERE TO STAY. Est. 2006." A white sheet with hand-painted red lettering that reads, "GIVE," hangs on a wall. The camera pans down a blue and white sign reading, "KEEP CALM AND GIVE ON." A blue and yellow sign reads, "ENTREPRENEURIAL. We expect a lot from each other."
BLAKE: Looking back now, it was quite a revolutionary idea to say a whole business is gonna be created to help those in need.
Blake smiles into the camera.
BLAKE: I'm so excited about the TOMS-Target partnership.
Older and younger models display TOMS clothing and shoes. They pose for the camera against a blue background. A young boy seated against a wooden wall puts on a blue pair of TOMS shoes. A man clutches a navy blue jacket. Kids lean against each other in TOMS T-shirts. A young woman in a gray hooded sweatshirt poses and smiles.
BLAKE: What you'll find is great gift ideas that are inspired by real travel experiences and also very functional stuff, stuff that you could use all year long. It feels very authentic.
Blake speaks into the camera. Lettering appears on a wooden wall in images of shoes, a dinner plate, and a blanket.
