We’re celebrating a major milestone: It’s Shipt’s first anniversary with Target! When Target acquired the same-day delivery marketplace last December (exactly one year ago today!), it was one of our largest acquisitions to date and opened up an industry-leading new fulfillment option for busy guests.

“We’re always looking for ways to make shopping Target’s selection even easier,” said John Mulligan, Target’s chief operating officer. “With Shipt, same-day delivery became a reality for our guests across the country, making Target the first retailer to offer the service coast to coast.”

Shipt is now available to millions of Target guests in more than 200 markets across 46 states (pre-acquisition, Shipt was available in 70 markets), delivering groceries, gifts, decorations and more in as soon as one hour. Since joining the Target family, Shipt saw membership numbers triple year-over-year and they’ve hired more than 375 new employees across its Birmingham, Alabama and San Francisco offices. And we fulfilled our original promise—that the service would be available at most Target stores in all major markets by the holiday season!

So what’s next for 2019? We’ll increase our assortment on the platform to include all major product categories, and Shipt and Target will continue to expand to new markets. As for Shipt, they have plans to expand their headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama, adding hundreds of new jobs to the area.

With such impressive growth, we were curious: What are the top Target products purchased through Shipt? Though the service offers same-day delivery on items across the store—from essentials to home to electronics—its most popular category is grocery! The top 25 most frequently purchased grocery items included eggs, milk, bananas, strawberries, avocados, shredded cheese, butter, limes and more.
